The first quarter of 2026 reinforced what many buyers and sellers across Chester, Mendham, Long Valley, and Peapack Gladstone are experiencing firsthand: inventory remains extremely limited and well-prepared homes are moving quickly.
What is especially notable this quarter is the widening gap between renovated, well maintained homes and those that need work. In today’s environment, buyers are placing a much higher premium on move in ready condition than they normally would. Construction costs, contractor availability, and renovation fatigue are pushing buyers away from projects and toward finished homes—even if it means paying a premium.
