This is one of the first articles from a major publication that tackles the real reason why housing is so unaffordable. Post-2008 we lost a decade of new home construction. We built 20 million fewer homes than we would have otherwise for our population. Just in time for the Millennials to show up to the housing market. This is going to take a generation to recover from.
For years, when Michigan politicians talked about the state’s housing problem, they were referring to a surplus: too many run-down
