Chris Iverson - Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty

Chris Iverson - Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty When you hire Chris, you work with Chris. Every update, negotiation, and decision is handled personally. All of his Google reviews are five stars.

I help owners of interesting homes and estates in Atherton, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Portola Valley and Woodside sell them when it’s time for the next chapter in their lives.. Chris Iverson has been selling Peninsula real estate since 2005, focusing on the communities of Atherton, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Portola Valley and Woodside, and working directly with buyers and sellers rather than managing a team. Most of his business comes from repeat clients and referrals, a reflection of the trust he earns through candid advice and sound judgment. Chris combines a strong quantitative approach, built on statistics, economics, and hard data, with the ability to tell the story of a home: the subjective, emotional details that help buyers picture their life there and help sellers capture full value. Clients hire Chris for the same reason they hire a great attorney or wealth manager: straight answers, clear counsel, and confidence in every decision. Expectations are set from the start, with a standing weekly update call, and numbers to back it up. Some weeks call for a longer conversation; others take two minutes. When an offer or important decision comes up in between, Chris is there. And when something goes sideways, he owns it and fixes it. No spin, no manufactured drama. That approach shows up in the results. When broker consensus valued a Portola Valley estate at $40–45 million, Chris saw considerably more. It was a complex property and a complicated transaction, but he held his conviction through a year-long process. The property ultimately sold for a record-breaking $56 million. In addition to the marketing tools and global reach available through Sotheby's International Realty, Chris draws on his own extensive network of contacts in markets around the world with ties to Silicon Valley. Whether a client wants broad exposure or a more discreet, targeted approach, Chris builds a specific marketing plan around who the right buyers are, and how best to reach them. Outside of work, Chris lives in Palo Alto with his blended family of seven: five kids spanning elementary school to college, plus two golden retrievers. With kids currently enrolled in both Palo Alto and Woodside schools, he brings firsthand, current knowledge of the area's top schools, large and small, to every conversation about where to live. A lifelong avid cyclist, Chris can be found pedaling on the quiet roads of the Santa Cruz Mountains. When he gets a few free hours, he tinkers with an old BMW he is restoring, and can occasionally be found at track days at Sonoma Raceway or Laguna Seca.

Portola Valley offers a completely different rhythm of life than the flats of Palo Alto. With a population of around five thousand people, expansive trail networks, and strict rural preservation, it attracts buyers looking for space, quiet, and privacy without adding an hour to their commute.

Local market timing on the Peninsula heavilty revolves around our local school district calendars, and understanding our market cycle is key to timing your purchase or sale for the best outcomes.

Analytical buyers ask me every single quarter when the Peninsula real estate bubble is going to pop. The reality of our market comes down to extreme land scarcity, strict zoning, and constant wealth generation. Here's what you should understand and why the Mid-Peninsula operates under a very different set of economic rules than the rest of the country.

When you need to step away from the tech bubble and clear your head, you do not have to drive two hours into the mountains. Here are my top two recommendations for open space right in our backyard.

🌳 Windy Hill in Portola Valley for sweeping ridge views stretching from the Bay to the Pacific Ocean

🌳 Wunderlich Park in Woodside for quiet trails through towering redwoods and ancient oaks

What's your favorite spot to get away into nature?

My job is not to convince you to buy a house. My job is to protect your capital, give you unvarnished market data, and help you evaluate risk so you can make a rational decision. If the right move is to wait or walk away, that is exactly what I will tell you.

Commuting from Palo Alto to San Francisco is a daily reality for many Peninsula residents. Between Caltrain Express trains, driving 101, taking 280, or using tech shuttles, your choice of neighborhood and proximity to transit hubs can make a thirty-minute difference in your day. Here's what the commute often looks like.
