Just sold in Mountain View with !

“You Need to Calm Down” is probably what the listing agent was telling her seller throughout this transaction…

Even though our buyer submitted an offer over the list price for this cute condo in Mountain View, the sellers wanted more money. See, they had paid $750k for it back in 2017, so naturally, they wanted to get what they paid for it (or more).

But the market is different for condos now than it used to be, and condo prices have come down in some areas. So after a LOT of back and forth negotiations with the sellers trying to do some sneaky math w/the price and our commission, they finally accepted our client’s offer for $705k (and the buyer still paid out of pocket for our commission).

The sellers were very unhappy about the price, and they ended up trying to kick us out of contract after less than 2 weeks bc they thought they could get more money for it. Fortunately for us, the contract was on our side.

We ended up closing in a short 17 days, which is ridiculously fast for a condo. But if it would have made it to the 18th day, the seller would have had the right to cancel on us - which they planned to do. They were so enraged about not getting their price that they wanted to ruin the deal with the hopes of getting more money.

I’ve never had a seller threaten to cancel before, especially in the rude way this seller tried to. Deals get delayed all the time in real estate. It’s normal. So I feel bad that our buyer had to deal with such a stressful transaction.

Especially bc I sold this condo back in 2017 when the sellers bought it… so you’d think it would be a nice transaction where everyone knows each other and gets along. But I guess not! Some deals are just not smooth, and it is what it is. Now that it’s closed, hopefully the seller has calmed down and moved on.

I’m glad our client persevered, bc he got a great condo in the end. And he got a great price for it too! We’re very excited for him to move into his new place, and also really grateful for his positive attitude throughout the transaction. Congrats on your new home, J!! 🎉
