A historical, Willoughby candy shop is getting a second life with a viral candy business slated to occupy the vacant property.

Jeff’s Candy Shop, currently located at 16101 Waterloo Road in Cleveland, is planning on moving operations to the former Brandt’s Candies space located at 1238 Lost Nation Road.

The announcement of the move comes just seven months after Jeff’s Candy Shop in June opened its first brick-and-mortar location in a 200-square-foot space. The opening followed nearly a year of permitting and zoning hurdles with the City of Cleveland that went viral on social media.

Jeff Morsfield, the owner and self-proclaimed “Willy Wonka of Cleveland,” said he wasn’t expecting to move the business's storefront this soon, but the former Brandt’s candy location was “very serendipitous.”

Since opening in summer 2025, Jeff’s Candy Shop has outgrown the store and needed greater capacity for supplies. Additionally, the Waterloo location didn’t have a kitchen — or possibility of building one in the space — leading Morsfield to rent kitchen space down the road for the storefront.

After outgrowing their Chesterland space, chefs and newlyweds Hedy and Talia Trovato are opening Coppia's new location today on 1731 Lost Nation Road in Willoughby.

The restaurant features a “modern-organic design" with seating options that include a bar, dining room, patio and chef’s table, where eight diners will enjoy an exclusive seasonally-driven multi-course tasting menu and w**e pairing.

"From the very beginning we imagined a fine dining experience where the food, service and atmosphere were completely harmonious," says Hedy. "During our time in Chesterland, we did start to noticeably outgrow our kitchen and dining room space. So we wanted to design an area that could allow our concept to keep growing and moving forward."

Without any advance warning, Bar Louie has abruptly closed its Legacy Village location in Lyndhurst, which opened nearly 20 years ago, and its Crocker Park spot, which opened in 2012. Visitors -- and presumably staffers -- who attempted to enter the restaurant last weekend were greeted by the following sign:

"We regret to inform you this location is permanently closed. Thank you for the many memories!"

The Texas-based chain, which had restaurants in 19 states, also abruptly shuttered stores in greater Detroit, Illinois and New Jersey last week.
