The sun is out and the temps are steady for now, but we all know how fast a New Hampshire winter can pivot! ❄️ Before the next "Polar Vortex" or deep freeze hits the Lakes Region, make sure your home is ready.

Taking an hour this weekend to prep can save you thousands in emergency repairs later. Here’s your Deep Freeze To-Do List:

🚰 Locate Your Main Shut-off: If a pipe bursts, you need to know exactly where your main water valve is. Test it to make sure it turns easily!

🚪 Mind the Cabinets: When temps drop below zero, keep kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors open to let heat reach the pipes under your sinks.

🌡️ The 55° Rule: Never set your thermostat lower than 55°F, even if you’re heading south for a few days.

💨 Stop the Drafts: Use "draft dodgers" or rolled towels at the base of exterior doors and drafty windows.

🚜 Heating Vent Check: Ensure your furnace and water heater exhaust vents are clear of snow and debris so they can breathe properly when working overtime.
