Which do you prefer?

We're seeing home decorating styles change back to a more traditional style again.

Do you prefer the minimalist style or the more traditional decorating style?

I tend to lean to the traditional style myself.

Let me know what you prefer

Do you prefer being outdoors in the Winter or Summer?

To me there's much more to do in the Summer but it's very peaceful being out in the snow.

Especially since most people are still indoors.

Have you ever had a teacher you wish you could talk to decades after being in their class?

The one teacher that really stands out in my mind is Mr. McMullin. I can’t remember which grade he taught, but he made coming to school fun.

Things were a lot different back in the early to mid-80s.

During recess and lunch, he would play tackle football with us. We could tackle him and instead of him tackling us, he would simply trip us.

And not a little trip, he would kick our foot hard and we would practically spin around while falling to the ground. We would get excited when we didn’t fall from him trying to trip us.

When we did fall, he would laugh.

We would try to tackle him which would take about 5 of us to get him down. All the while, he was pushing us off of him so he could try to score.

Those are great memories of Mr. McMullin. To this day I wish I could’ve told him how much that year meant to me.

Things were different back then. I can’t imagine a teacher playing football like that with kids today.

As I was looking for him online I discovered Mr. McMullin died on December 12, 2008, at the age of 64.

I haven’t seen him since the mid-80s, but it still makes me sad to know he is gone.

I am so glad we got to experience a teacher like him.

🏡 Don’t Miss the Details: Why You Need to Read the Fine Print in Your Real Estate Contract 📑

When it comes to buying or selling a home, the devil is in the details…

and the real estate contract is where those details live.

It’s not just about what’s typed in black and white; it’s about the specific terms that can have a big impact on your transaction.

A great example? Earnest money.

It’s an important part of the contract that shows your commitment to the deal.

But what happens if the contract gets canceled?

How is that earnest money handled? Can you get it back, or will you lose it?

This is where reading the contract carefully matters.

Terms can vary, and it’s essential to understand the contingencies and deadlines that protect you.

One missed detail could cost you time, money, or even the home of your dreams!

That’s why it’s crucial to have a knowledgeable real estate agent by your side.

A skilled agent will help ensure that all the terms in your contract are crystal clear, and they’ll guide you through potential issues to protect your interests.

They’ll also help you navigate tricky scenarios—like handling earnest money or dealing with cancellations—so you don’t get caught off guard.

Before you sign, make sure you’re in good hands.

🖊️ A professional agent can help you avoid costly mistakes and make sure the terms are fair and clear from start to finish.

One of the craziest things I’ve done for a client.....

was on Thanksgiving of 2004.

We had a client who couldn’t do any work to their home or pay for someone to do any work.

It was the day before Thanksgiving and the husband called me and said that his friend wasn’t able to get over to the house before closing to install a sump pump that was needed before closing.

I told them I’d get down there and take care of it for them.

Before having Thanksgiving dinner we made our way over the house to get it done.

It took much longer than I had expected. About 2 hours longer.

Digging the hole and getting the dirt out the house is what took the most time. It was one small bucket at a time.

Luckily there were two of us. One to dig and the other to take the dirt outside.

After about 4 hours, we were done and enjoying Thanksgiving.

Sometimes as agents, we get to go above and beyond for our clients to keep the deals moving forward.

It’s these types of unexpected circumstances where agents stand out from others.

After years of my wife and I talking about getting out and hiking, we finally went on our anniversary last July.

We found this amazing location starting at the Grand Jean campground near Stanley, Idaho.

We got a late start but were able to get a few hours in and even had some rain on us, which felt great in the mid-90-degree weather.

On our way home we talked about definitely going back with the kids and friends.

WELL....a few weeks later...lightning struck up in the mountains south of there and quickly became a large fire.

Needless to say this beautiful area had the fire sweep through. While we were sad we saw footage of a few cabins located near the campground get destroyed in the fire.

There were cabins and hot springs along the road to the campground. We don't know the exact extent of the damage but we do know that this area will take a long time to get back to what we experienced that day in July 2024.

Like everything in life, things are always changing.

😢🏡Top 3 Reasons Why Downsizing Creates So Many Emotions 💔

Nostalgia for Memories:

Leaving a home where countless memories were created, such as raising children, can be emotionally challenging. The prospect of parting with these memories may evoke feelings of heartbreak, but strategies for preserving the most cherished moments can help.

Family Guilt:

Adult children may induce feelings of guilt for leaving a place with so many of their childhood memories. It's important not to let grown children dictate one's living choices. Additionally, downsizing could provide opportunities for the grandkids to create new and meaningful memories.

Fear of Change:

The unknowns associated with downsizing, coupled with the perceived workload of preparing the current home for sale, can be paralyzing. Developing a clear plan can alleviate these fears and provide a roadmap for a smoother downsizing process.

Embarking on a new chapter by leaving a home full of cherished memories can be emotionally challenging, but preserving those moments is key. Avoid letting family guilt dictate your choices, and consider downsizing as an opportunity for new, meaningful memories with the grandkids—overcoming the fear of change is possible with a clear plan.
