Headlines highlighting rising foreclosures have a way of stirring up 2008 flashbacks. But the data says not to panic.
We’re nowhere near what happened back then.
In the first half of 2008, foreclosures were filed on over 1.3 million homes. The first half of this year that number was less than 250k.
Now, seeing any homeowner go through this is hard. There’s no arguing that.

For most people, their first house was never meant to be their forever home. It was meant to be a steppingstone to whatever came next.
And today's market is creating an interesting opportunity for homeowners who are ready to move up.
Starter homes are still in short supply, which means the house you're selling may be exactly what another buyer has been hoping to find.

Either way, the widespread drop you're bracing for may not be coming. Yes, a few markets are seeing mild declines. But more than 100 economists and housing experts expect home prices will actually rise nationally over the next five years – not fall. And waiting for a deal that never comes could mean passing up the chance to gain thousands in equity or paying more in a few years for the same home. So before you decide to wait, let's talk about your options and what prices are really doing in our area.
