This , we celebrate the fearless women who have made their mark on the real estate industry. To honor them, we'd like to share some little-known facts about women's history in the real estate industry:

🏠 The first female member of the National Association of REALTORS® joined in 1910. She was a broker from Seattle, Washington named Corrine Simpson.
🏠 Until the 1950's, women were barred from joining real estate boards and most local realtors' associations. Undeterred, 37 women from 9 states started the Women's Council of REALTORS® in 1938.
🏠 In 2022, research conducted by the NAR showed that 66% of NAR members were women.
🏠 Before the Equal Credit Opportunity Act passed in 1974, women were not legally permitted to obtain a mortgage without a male cosigner. Today, women actually outpace men in getting mortgages: 17 percent of today’s homebuyers are single women, while only 9% are single men.
