If I was moving from Florida to Long Island in 2026… these are the 5 North Shore neighborhoods I’d be looking at immediately 👀🏡

First up: Northport.

If you’re coming from Florida, chances are you’re used to waterfront living, walkable downtowns, restaurants with outdoor seating, boating culture, and that “small town but still lively” feeling.

Northport gives you EXACTLY that… but with Long Island character.

You’ve got:
⚓️ A beautiful harbor + marina
☕️ A walkable Main Street filled with coffee shops, boutiques, and restaurants
🌅 Waterfront parks and sunset views that honestly feel underrated
🚆 Easy access to NYC via the LIRR
🏡 A mix of charming older homes, updated colonials, and luxury waterfront properties
🎭 A real community vibe with local events, farmers markets, and the Northport Theater

It’s one of those towns where people move for the schools… but stay because of the lifestyle.

And compared to some other North Shore areas, Northport still feels a little more relaxed and less “showy,” which a lot of out-of-state buyers end up loving.
