Why More Sellers Are Helping with Closing Costs | KCM

A few years ago, sellers could say "no" to just about everything a buyer asked for. No repairs. No concessions. No negotiation. But today's market looks a little different.

And here’s a stat to prove it. The latest data available says almost seventy percent of sellers end up paying some or all of their buyer's closing costs. Now, that doesn't mean every seller should do it. That’s not what I’m saying. But it does tell you something important. The market has shifted. And negotiation is back on the table.

That doesn't mean you should automatically say “yes” if a buyer asks for help with closing costs. Sometimes another concession is the better move. But if inventory is higher in your area, your house has been sitting for a while, or you're motivated to make a deal happen, it may be worth considering.
