I hope you had an excellent weekend.

I wanted to send a quick update on mortgage rates. Last week was very volatile for all markets with concern of a spreading banking crisis after the failure of Silicon Valley Bank and now Credit Suisse in Europe. This helped mortgage rates drop as investors took a "flight to safety" and invested in Mortgage Backed Securities. With heavy investments in mortgages, the price of these securities increased which drops the rate. Here is where mortgage rates currently stand:

30 Year Fixed FHA: 5.625%
30 Year Fixed VA: 5.625%
30 Year Fixed USDA: 5.625%
30 Year Fixed Conventional: 6.875%
30 Year Fixed Conventional Investment Property: 7.875%
5 Year Adjustable Rate Mortgage (30 Year Term): 6.375%

I hope you had an excellent weekend.

I wanted to send a quick update on mortgage rates. On Friday we got the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) jobs report, which showed unemployment rising with hourly earnings and average hours worked declining. This is deflationary and helped lower rates. But we're seeing an even bigger decrease in rates today with the news that Silicone Valley Bank is insolvent and on the verge of collapse. This may force the Fed to cut rates to prevent other banks from failing. Because of this news, mortgage rates have started the week lower:

30 Year Fixed FHA: 5.875%
30 Year Fixed VA: 5.875%
30 Year Fixed USDA: 5.875%
30 Year Fixed Conventional: 6.990%
30 Year Fixed Conventional Investment Property: 7.990%
5 Year Adjustable Rate Mortgage (30 Year Term): 6.375%

I wanted to send a quick update on mortgage rates. We're happy to see February in the rearview mirror as a positive jobs report and higher inflation readings caused rates to jump. But experts are predicting rates to shift back down in March with Fridays jobs report expecting to reflect job losses and inflation figures dropping. Here are where mortgage rates ended the week:

I hope you had an excellent weekend.

I wanted to send a quick update on mortgage rates. Last Friday we got the Fed's favorite measure of inflation, the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE). This report showed that inflation rose 0.6% in January, which was hotter than estimates. With the labor market showing strength and inflation not dropping fast enough, rates continued to jump to end a difficult February. But experts do feel the March 10th jobs report will better reflect the current labor market and will help turn rates lower:

30 Year Fixed FHA: 6.000%

Happy Presidents' Day!

I wanted to send a quick update on mortgage rates. Last week the January Consumer Price Index Report was released and it showed that year over year inflation only dropped 0.1%. This was less than expected (the Fed hoped for a 0.3% drop) and this caused mortgage rates to end the week higher:

30 Year Fixed USDA: 6.000%

I wanted to send a quick update on mortgage rates. On Friday we got the Federal Reserves favorite measure of inflation, the Personal Consumption Expenditure report (PCE). This showed that inflation fell from 5.50% to 5% on a year over year basis. Though not as big of a decrease as the Fed hoped, it was still enough to pressure mortgage rates to continue their drop:

30 Year Fixed FHA: 5.500%
30 Year Fixed VA: 5.375%
30 Year Fixed USDA: 5.500%
30 Year Fixed Conventional: 6.250%
30 Year Fixed Conventional Investment Property: 7.250%

I wanted to send a quick update on mortgage rates. Last week there was very little news that impacted rates, but they did hit a floor of support and couldn't break lower. Because of this, rates slightly increased as we wait for the Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE) report to come out on Friday which measures inflation and could move rates lower.

I wanted to send a quick update on mortgage rates. The December Consumer Price Index report was released and showed year over year inflation declined from 7.1% to 6.5%. Lower inflation leads to lower mortgage rates, so rates continued their downward trend and ended the week slightly lower:
