Summer’s almost over, but this Egypt trip from the start of the season is permanently etched in my heart 💛
One of my very first stops was Luxor… and this beauty right here? A modern replica of the Sacred Barque (ceremonial boat) of Amun-Ra, sitting proudly along the Avenue of Sphinxes just outside the main entrance of Luxor Temple.
Luxor was once ancient Thebes — the powerhouse capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom (around 1550–1070 BCE). The Greeks nicknamed it “the City of a Hundred Gates,” and today it’s often called the world’s greatest open-air museum. Fun fact: this area alone holds roughly one-third of all the surviving ancient monuments on Earth 🏛️
