A new $220 million waterfront destination is coming to Fort Lauderdale, with completion currently targeted for 2028 🌊

The Water District, this project is a public-private partnership between Capital Group Ventures and the City of Fort Lauderdale that aims to transform the beachfront peninsula into a year round destination for locals and visitors.

The development will feature immersive marine exhibits, the International Swimming Hall of Fame experience, a new Fort Lauderdale Aquarium, the tallest dive tower in the Western Hemisphere for world class competitions, waterfront restaurants, rooftop dining, event spaces, and an elevated public promenade overlooking the Intracoastal.

The project also includes more than $53 million in public infrastructure improvements, including a new seawall, public promenade, Ocean Rescue headquarters, and a dedicated Water Taxi dock, allowing visitors to arrive by boat without needing a car.

Developers estimate the destination will increase annual visitors to the site from fewer than 5,000 today to between 300,000 and 400,000 once complete.

A Five-story building with a huge Rolex store may be coming to Ft. Lauderdale’s Las Olas Boulevard

Operated by Weston Jewelers and designed by Arquitectonica, this proposal would encompass aprx 32,000sqft building, with the first three floors being retail space, the fourth floor as office space, & the fifth floor as addition retail space, an office lounge, & a large open terrace. The design itself is extremely elegant and it is confirmed that Rolex will be one of brands located inside. The Fort Lauderdale planning & zoning board approved the plan 4-3 on April 15th to be sent to the commission for approval. The commission is expected to vote on the plan May 19th according to Sun Sentinel’s reporting. Thoughts?
