Miami Beach turned an old golf course into something much more useful, a nearly 20-acre public park designed to enjoy sunny days while also helping manage heavy rainfall. 🌿🌧️

Bayshore Park was built on the former Par 3 Golf Course and opened in September 2025 after years of planning and environmental restoration. At the center of the 19.4-acre park is a large lake designed to collect and retain stormwater from surrounding neighborhoods, helping keep nearby streets clearer during periods of intense rain. The park also uses permeable surfaces and other resilience features that allow more water to soak naturally into the ground. Around the lake, residents can enjoy walking and jogging paths, tennis courts, a playground, dog park, butterfly garden and open green spaces. Rather than dedicating the land to a single purpose, Miami Beach created a park that combines recreation, nature and practical flood management in the same landscape.

🌴 An afternoon on Coral Gables' Miracle Mile always felt like a special occasion. The wide graceful boulevard, the royal palms down the median, the elegant storefronts under their striped awnings. This was where South Florida came to stroll, shop, and be seen.

There is an easy rhythm to a street like this. Folks in their nicest clothes wandering from window to window, neighbors stopping to chat in the shade, the whole avenue humming with that relaxed tropical elegance the Gables was built for. It was never about rushing. It was about taking your time, admiring the architecture, and making an afternoon of it.

The City Beautiful has always done things with a bit of grace, and the Miracle Mile has been the heart of that for generations. Even as the years roll on and the shops change hands, that unmistakable charm still lingers along the boulevard.

What is your favorite memory of an afternoon spent on the Miracle Mile? 💐
