HB 1451 has been signed into law, ending the 25% water surcharge paid by many Miami Gardens residents and businesses. The change takes effect July 1, 2027.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, the day freedom finally reached the last enslaved African Americans in Texas more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Juneteenth

Juneteenth is a reminder that freedom, opportunity, and justice are worth protecting and expanding for future generations. It is a day to reflect on the sacrifices of those who came before us, celebrate the resilience of our communities, and continue building a legacy of progress.

As we honor this important day, may we also remember that wealth, education, homeownership, and community empowerment are powerful tools for creating lasting legacies.
