“Is it privately owned?” 👀🏡 I get this rental question often, so let’s clear it up!
A home can be privately owned, listed with a Realtor, managed by a property manager AND located in an HOA community—all at the same time.
🔑 Ownership tells you who owns the home.
🤝 A Realtor or property manager may help with renting or managing it.
🏘️ An HOA is the homeowners association for the community. Having one doesn’t mean the association owns the home.
If you’re looking for an individual landlord, direct contact with the owner, or a rental without HOA approval, those are separate questions—and it helps to ask specifically!
Also, privately owned doesn’t automatically mean flexible credit requirements, and having an HOA doesn’t automatically mean separate tenant approval is required. Each property has its own requirements.
