It's great for an on the spot idea of what it will cost to buy a home. It's super Easy to Use! I google mortgage caluclator and a financial website comes up first in the seach and Voi La ! (or I could just keep the tab open - duh!). One thing it doesnt account for is Mortgage Insurance (which you will pay if you dont put at least 20% down) and Points (which you may pay a lender for a better interest rate) both of which could be minimal depending on the situation.
