what a special treat to see our Guthrie House project featured in today! The story of this home began with discovering the original designer of the home, the incredible Albert Frey - a surprise uncovered with the Palm Springs Historical Society. It made us pivot our plans quickly and launch a long research and design process to inform the renovation of this special home. We led the year long construction period, one that we look back at with much fondness and joy. Last images are from when we purchased the home, and the original 1935 design - one of the few archival images available of the property. Frey’s spirit lives on!

We are back but now working across the country in Miami! Avalon is in her 2nd year at Columbia University graduate school of architecture. I decided that I needed a little bit more sunshine so I went south to Miami. We have been working hard on designing two new projects that will be underway very soon. We take inspiration from our California desert and love of Hawaii. Mixing the desert with the jungle has always inspired us and seems to show up in every project. We are so excited to start sharing our progress ❤️ stay tuned!!

One of our very favorite kitchen renovations all started with a pair of thrifted antique wooden doors that we repurposed into pantry doors. The kitchen layout, custom oak cabinetry, and burl wood countertops all linked back to those doors. You never know when you’ll find inspiration in unexpected places!

This 1930s Spanish style hacienda needed minimal adjustments to the exterior. We highlighted the Jacinto mountains and dramatic palms by keeping our reimaginings simple and authentic. With a fresh, white paint coat and the addition of a reclaimed wood gate at the entrance, we tied in the original wood shutters, and really let them shine ✨
