One of South Miami’s most recognizable properties is moving closer to a complete transformation.

The Shops at Sunset Place is planned to be replaced by a massive mixed-use district featuring:

🏡 1,513 residences
🏨 287 hotel rooms
🛍️ 200,000+ SF of retail
💼 Nearly 66,000 SF of office space
🎭 1,300-seat theater
🏙️ 7 towers reaching up to 33 stories

And approximately $149 million in infrastructure improvements are planned to support the redevelopment, with Miami-Dade County approving the Community Development District that can help finance that infrastructure.

Demolition is currently targeted for early 2027.

But the bigger story here isn’t simply replacing an aging mall.
