Dear Ivy Residents,
As you may be aware, there was a fire reported in a unit on the 24th floor of The Ivy condominium. Thankfully, all family members residing in the unit are safe and not one Ivy resident was reported to be hurt. The fire was contained to the one unit. The fire department immediately attended to the call addressing and containing the fire, avoiding the fire to continue spreading.
Unfortunately, there were over 20 units that had water damage caused by the sprinklers triggered by the fire. At this time, I have personally contacted all affected unit owners/residents, and provided the latest update, next steps to take, in addition to mitigating the water damage. Please note that if we have identified your unit as being affected by this loss, we have installed equipment’s that will remediate the affected areas. We ask that you please not tamper with these equipment so that the process is not further prolonged. If your unit was not initially identified as being affected, however, you find areas that might have damages, please contact the management office immediately for a reassessment of your unit.
While this event was unforeseen, it paid dividends to be well prepared and have protocols and procedures in place which can minimize damage, but more importantly save lives. Thankfully, the association had recently conducted multiple fire safety test and inspections. Now we will revisit our fire safety standard and make sure that every unit is in compliance. It is imperative that residents do NOT tamper with any fire safety feature/equipment in your unit, such as sprinklers, speakers, or smoke detectors. Furthermore, the association will be inspecting every unit key that we have on file. If we do NOT have a key to your unit, we will contact you for a copy.
Management will continue to provide updates to the affected unit owner as we procced with the remediation of this loss.
If you have any questions regarding this matter please feel free to contact management.
Thank you.
