A Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loan is a home mortgage that is insured by the government and issued by a bank or other lender that is approved by the agency. FHA loan is designed to help low-to moderate-income families attain homeownership.

They are particularly popular with first-time homebuyers. If you have a credit score of at least 580, you can borrow up to 96.5% of the value.That means the required down payment is only 3.5%.If your credit score falls between 500 and 579, you can still get an FHA loan as long as you can make a 10% down payment.

FHA loan amount limit or cealing depends on number of units, Low-cost areas, and High-cost areas.

TIP! 💁 DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS PMI?

It stands for Private Mortgage Insurance. For Conventional loans PMI is added to your mortgage payments if your downpayment is lower than 20%. The purpose of the insurance is to protect the mortgage company if you default on your mortgage payments. Typically costs between 0.5% to 1% of the entire loan amount on an annual basis. Example: if you have a loan for $400,000 to a maximum 1% PMI is $4,000, then $4000 is divided by 12 months, this equals $333.33 monthly added to your mortgage payments. FHA mortgage insurance lasts the life of the loan unless you put 10% or more down, or you must refinance to a conventional loan, or a 620 credit score and 20% equity to get rid of your FHA mortgage insurance premium.
