Submitting fake pay stubs, forged IDs, or false documents on a rental application isn’t just a lease violation anymore—it’s a 3rd-Degree Felony in Florida.
Here is what you need to know about the new Fraudulent Entry Law (HB 1293):
⚠️ For Applicants & Tenants:
Lying about your identity or submitting fake/altered documents is officially a felony offense punishable by up to 5 years in prison or a $5,000 fine.
Honesty and accurate documentation are more important than ever when applying for your next home!
🏠 For Landlords & Property Owners:
Fraudulent entry is now classified as a non-curable breach.
You can issue a 7-day Notice to Vacate with no opportunity for the offender to cure.
Note: Landlords must still deliver proper written 7-day legal notice before filing for court eviction if the tenant does not leave.
