🚨 Florida homeowners: Want to know how much you could save if the new property tax proposal passes?

The State of Florida just launched the Save Our Homes Tax Savings Calculator, allowing homeowners to see their estimated savings under the proposed property tax changes. Simply enter your address and the calculator will show:

✅ Your current estimated property tax bill
✅ Your estimated tax bill with up to a $250,000 homestead exemption
✅ Your potential annual savings

The proposal would increase Florida’s homestead exemption from $50,000 to $150,000 in 2027 and up to $250,000 in 2028 but it still requires voter approval in November 2026 before becoming law.

🚨 Florida property taxes could change FOREVER…

But wait, this is NOT law yet.

The plan pushed by Ron DeSantis has passed lawmakers and is heading to a **November 2026 vote**.

👉 Here’s what actually matters:
• Homestead exemption would jump from $50K → $150K in 2027
• Then up to $250K in 2028
• Homes valued at $250K or less could pay **$0 in property taxes**

👉Assessment Cap: Slashes the annual property value assessment cap on non-homestead properties (including businesses and second homes) from a 10% yearly increase to 5%

👉 Own a higher-value home?
You’d only pay taxes on the amount ABOVE $250K 👀

👉 What most people aren’t saying:
• Only applies to your primary residence (not investments)
• Needs 60% voter approval to pass
• Could impact city & county budgets

👉 Long-term goal:
Raise the exemption to $500K… potentially eliminating property taxes for most homeowners.

Bottom line: property taxes are NOT gone today…

Ron DeSantis propuso una reducción FUERTE de impuestos, pero todavía no es ley.

👉 El plan:
• Subir la exención hasta $150K en 2027
• Subirla hasta $250K en 2028

👉 Importante:
• Solo aplica a tu vivienda principal (no inversiones)
• Necesita aprobación del 60% de los votantes en noviembre 2026

👉 ¿Qué significa esto?
Podrías pagar mucho menos en property taxes (incluso casi nada en algunos casos), pero NO desaparecen por completo.

👉 ¿Cuándo pasaría?

🔥 Breaking Florida property tax news: The Florida House just voted 80–30 to advance a constitutional amendment that would eliminate most non-school property taxes for homesteaded homes leaving only the portion that funds schools. If approved by 60% of voters on the ballot this fall, homestead owners could see roughly 60% of their property tax bill go away, with only the school tax (about 40%) remaining.

This is potentially huge for homeowners — more money staying in your pocket, appreciation staying strong, and even more incentive to buy and hold here in Florida. But it’s not law yet it still needs to pass the Senate AND voter approval.
