Big news for Florida homeowners 👀
Governor Ron DeSantis announced a special legislative session focused on property tax relief for primary residences and expanding Florida’s homestead exemption.
According to the Governor’s official proposal, the initial phase would exempt up to the first $250,000 of a qualifying homestead’s value from taxation. During the live announcement, DeSantis also discussed a longer-term goal of eventually increasing that exemption up to $500,000 through a phased legislative plan.
If passed, these changes could significantly reduce property taxes for many Florida homeowners and would be one of the biggest property tax discussions Florida has seen in years.
This is something every Florida homeowner, buyer, and investor should be watching closely.
