Aldie and South Riding book lovers, I've got an update!

Remember when I shared that Barnes & Noble was coming to Dulles Landing? That news got a LOT of attention, so I know I'm not the only one excited about this!

Well, the new store now has its own page, and the latest opening information points to December 2026!

And here's something else to look forward to: a café!

No exact grand-opening date yet, but we're getting closer.

One Loudoun has been BUSY.
If you’ve driven through lately and wondered what all that construction is — or tried to keep track of all the new stores and restaurants — you’re not alone.
Bartaco is opening. Monkee’s of Loudoun is on the way. Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and Madewell are among the names coming. And now L.L.Bean, FP Movement and Vuori are reportedly eyeing One Loudoun, too.
Oh — and there’s a new hotel under construction.
That’s a lot.
I pulled everything I could find into one update: what’s open, what’s coming and what’s still only reported for One Loudoun.

🚗 Another roundabout is coming to Route 50 in Aldie.

This one will be at Everfield Drive near Willowsford — and if you've ever tried to get onto Route 50 from there during a busy time of day, you probably understand why.

The project has been discussed for years, but it just reached an important milestone.

A new park is coming next to Lightridge High School. 🌳🏃🏾‍♀️

Loudoun County is moving forward with plans for Lightridge Park, formerly known as Dulles South Community Park.

The roughly 34-acre project is planned to include athletic fields along with trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, wooded spaces and other recreational amenities.

The project is currently in the design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027 and substantial completion currently projected for fall 2028.

Loudoun County just took another step toward pausing new data center applications.

The Board of Supervisors advanced a proposal Tuesday night that could put a temporary pause of up to 12 months on new data center applications.

One important distinction: this is not a ban on data centers, and it is not yet final. The proposal would apply to new applications, while Loudoun continues its broader review of where and under what standards future data centers should be allowed.

This is one I'll be watching. Data center development continues to be one of the biggest land-use conversations happening in Loudoun County, and the county is already working through the next phase of its data center standards and locations policies.

A 1 million-square-foot data center is planned near Broadlands. What should nearby residents know?

The CyrusOne project has been in the works for several years, but it’s getting renewed attention as residents raise concerns about the development.

I took a closer look at what’s actually proposed, why this project follows different rules than newer Loudoun data center proposals, what the latest National Association of REALTORS® research says about data centers nationally, and what happens next.

Whether you support data center development, oppose it, or are still figuring out where you stand, I think it’s worth understanding what’s happening in our community.

Loudoun County is putting more than $7 million toward two projects designed to expand affordable housing options in Ashburn and Middleburg.

The larger project could bring 72 rental homes to Ashburn, while separate funding will help move plans forward for six rental townhomes in Middleburg.

But what caught my attention is the bigger question behind the investment: Who will be able to afford to live in Loudoun County as our community continues to grow?

I took a closer look at what the Board of Supervisors approved, who the housing is intended to serve and why this is a story worth watching.

We finally have an opening date.

Kalahari Resorts is scheduled to open its massive new Spotsylvania County resort on November 12.

The part that caught my attention: the indoor waterpark alone will be 175,000 square feet, and Kalahari says day passes and season passes will be available — meaning you won't necessarily have to book a hotel stay to use it.

From Aldie, it's roughly an hour and a half away. Not exactly around the corner, but for a year-round indoor waterpark? That's close enough to get my attention.

I pulled together everything we know so far, including what's inside, the day-pass plans and whether this actually makes sense as a Northern Virginia day trip.
