At the recent running of the Piedmont Point-to-Point races, I was grateful to present the Rokeby Challenge Bowl with Ernie Bugg (and his wife Carol), who spent decades as farm manager at Mr. & Mrs. Paul Mellon's nearby Rokeby Farm. Now retired in Marshall, he still carries the most wonderful stories and is a true keeper of Upperville's history.

Two classic individuals in one photograph: Ernie and Gail Wofford, former Joint-Master of the Piedmont Fox Hounds. These two are icons in the fabric of what makes Upperville.

The Rokeby Challenge Bowl has been run since 1939, historically under the patronage of the Mellons. This year, it was sponsored by the Gerard B. Lambert Foundation in Mrs. Mellon's memory, with the generous support of her grandson, Thomas Lloyd. A beautiful continuation of the family legacy.

We were blessed with a rare, spectacular spring-like day. Usually these races battle cold and mud, but God, Mother Nature, Mr. & Mrs. Mellon...and maybe Dad too from above, gave us something perfect.
And fitting that a local trainer and owner took home the spoils!🌳

A Middleburg native with lifelong ties to Virginia's horse and hunt country, I was raised on my family's horse and cattle farm in Upperville, where I learned the values of horsemanship, land stewardship, and community. Those early lessons continue to shape the way I work today.

My style is low on pressure and meticulous on presentation, with a focus on listening closely and preparing well. I've spent more than 30 years in real estate and advertising, and since joining Thomas & Talbot in 2001, I've had the privilege of representing historic farms, equestrian estates, conservation properties, and country homes throughout the region. Recently, I was voted "Favorite Equestrian Realtor in the South" for the 3rd consecutive year by Equestrian Living Magazine.

When I go fox hunting, I still wear one of my father's stirrup leathers as a belt, just like he did. That small, practical reminder of preparedness and care continues to guide the way I work.
