Wow! This was a pleasant surprise to wake up to.
April is World Autism Awareness Month. As a parent or caregiver, the dedication of focus, support, love, emotion, and understanding is a daily reality.
When we created Hudson Valley Light It Up Blue 15 years ago, it was never about recognition. It's still not. We would rather remain anonymous. We were brought into a world that we did not understand and overwhelmed with information we did not know how to process. All we knew is that we needed help, and we needed it quickly.
We started Early Intervention soon after the diagnosis of autism. It was easily the most difficult and challenging time of our lives, but we met the most amazing community of professionals who dedicated their time to give us the help that we required. These are the people, schools, and organizations that deserve the recognition and gratitude.
Over the past 15 years, we have been honored to work with organizations such as Inspire - Orange County Cerebral Palsy Association, Think Differently, Orange County, New York, HONOR, Beautiful People Adaptive Sports, Center for Spectrum Services, Gifted Children Community Enrichment Center- Middletown, NY, Ella Rose Foundation, Jfs Orange, Mental Health Association in Orange County, Inc., and this year, Victory Hill Therapeutic Horsemanship. All of these organizations make the Hudson Valley a better place, supporting our neurodivergent community.
Thank you, Angela, Anthony, Resorts World Catskills and Resorts World Hudson Valley for your unwavering support in our mission. We will continue advocating for autism awareness and acceptance in the Hudson Valley and honoring the extraordinary people who devote their time, energy, and resources.
LIGHT IT UP!
