NEW STOP SIGNS COMING

In the next few weeks please be aware of new stop signs that will be installed at the intersection of Beers St and Clark St, creating a new four-way stop intersection. Over the past few years we have responded to numerous car accidents at this location, many of which resulted in injury or were severe enough to requires vehicles be towed from the scene. This caused us to investigate further and work with Keyport PD to compile crash data. After the data was collected, Hazlet Traffic Safety Officer Patrick Wood conducted an in depth traffic study which revealed over a 5 year period, there were 30 accidents at this intersection. The accident data showed 21 accidents resulting in injuries and 22 of the 30 resulted in vehicles being towed. Once all the data was examined it was agreed upon by both agencies there was a need for additional traffic control measures at this intersection. We are confident that the new four-way stop will reduce accidents at that location and make the roadway safer for all.
