Indian River School District to Host Current Expense Referendum on June 5, 2025 - get out and vote!
The Indian River School District will host a current expense referendum on Thursday, June 5, 2025. The referendum will seek funding in the amount of $22.5 million for increased operating costs.
Voting on June 5 is from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at any of the following local polling places: East Millsboro Elementary School, Georgetown Elementary School, Indian River High School, Long Neck Methodist Church (new polling place), Lord Baltimore Elementary School, Millville Community Center, Selbyville Fire Hall (new polling place) and Sussex Central High School. To vote in the referendum, a person must be a citizen of the United States and the State of Delaware, must be domiciled within the Indian River School District, and must be at least 18 years of age.

The Indian River School District will host three public meetings in the coming weeks to highlight the current expense referendum scheduled for Thursday, March 20, 2025.

The public meeting schedule is as follows:

• Monday, March 3 – Lord Baltimore Elementary School, 7:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, March 12 – Indian River High School, 7:00 p.m.
• Thursday, March 13 – Sussex Central High School, 7:00 p.m.

At each meeting, district officials will give a presentation outlining the referendum initiative. The public is invited to attend and will have the opportunity to ask questions.

The referendum will seek funding for increased operating costs and the recruitment and retention of staff.

The meetings will also be streamed live on the IRSD YouTube channel. Links to the broadcasts will be posted on the district website at irsd.net on the morning of each meeting. The public will have the opportunity to submit questions during the broadcasts.
