As asbestos remediation continues at Williamsport High School, the gym is expected to be ready by Nov. 15 for winter sports practices.

WVU Davis College to host alumni luncheon in Maryland

The West Virginia University Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design will host an alumni luncheon to discuss the college’s successes and celebrate a distinguished University alumnus.

The luncheon will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2 at alumnus-owned business Boggs Environmental Consultants Inc. Featured guests will include Dean Darrell Donahue and WVU Sports Hall of Fame inductee Jay Jacobs.

Dean Donahue will address recent Davis College successes including current research, teaching and service that advances the college’s vision. He will also provide insight into the college’s ongoing academic transformation and unification with WVU Extension and the WVU Center for Community Engagement.

“Alumni are a big part of the reason we’re able to do what we do: educate students on campus and around the state to make a sustainable world,” Donahue said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to hear their thoughts on it all.”

Jay Jacobs, a university alumnus and former WVU broadcaster for Mountaineer men’s basketball for nearly five decades, was recently inducted into the WVU Sports Hall of Fame. He will discuss career highlights such as his eight trips to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, his induction and more.

As part of the event, attendees will have the exclusive opportunity to explore the Lamar Medical Museum, a repository of medical history and innovation. For more details, visit the museum’s website.

Super good day yesterday opening to the public the Lamar Medical Museum during the 86th Maryland House & Garden Pilgrimage annual event. Tip of the hat to Main Street Middletown, Maryland staff for garnering the destination selection and their efforts (including volunteers) in flawlessly executing the plan. We welcomed well over 450 pilgrims to our museum.
