Wow what a stand up idea for the community well done Missouri!

On a 14-degree night last week, 25 homeless people had a warm and safe place to sleep.

The emergency cold shelter, which is run by 2020 Good Neighbor Award winner Linda Brown, has been open for 14 nights so far this winter.

Cots and blankets are set up in the community center of Linda’s nonprofit—Eden Village—a neighborhood of tiny homes for 55 chronically disabled residents who were once homeless.

Those permanent residents help run the emergency shelter for people who don’t have anywhere to escape the cold. “They are giving back as they were once unsheltered as well,” says Linda. “We did not ask them; they came forward on their own.”

A beautiful example of how doing good for others can be contagious.
