Happy New Year!
Going into 2024 Advanced Arborist would like to remind our customers that even though we do not do big prunes or removals anymore we still offer a variety of tree care options, whether it be stump grinding, ornamental pruning, plant heath care and consultations.

We are moving! I just met with our realtor to get our building listed. It's been wonderful to have such a large base of operations but I am excited about downsizing!

Why prune in the winter?
Oaks and Elms are susceptible to deadly pathogens spread by insects in the warmer months. The insects are attracted to fresh wounds in the bark, they carry oak wilt and dutch elm disease spores from infected trees to the wound and spread the infection. When we prune in the winter the trees have time to heal before the insects start moving again in the spring. If you have Oaks and Elms that are damaged during the warmer months we can help protect them as well!

Unfortunately sometimes there is nothing to be done to save a tree. We had to take down this massive hazardous Box Elder. Here is a little time lapse of Jim and his remarkable felling skills! Stay safe out there everybody!

We can protect your trees from defoliation due to these nasty little pests! Lymantria dispar (AKA spongy moth, formerly known as gypsy moth) came into our area last year with a vengeance and unfortunately this year their population will likely increase. Area wide infestations typically last 3-4 years before tapering off which puts trees into stress due to repeated defoliation. There is no preventative treatment to keep them away from your trees, but we can apply a systemic insecticide to control the population. Call or message here for a free estimate!
P.S. If you see egg masses (see cream colored fuzz on the right of this image) on your property please peel them off and soak them in soapy water to destroy the eggs! Thank you!
