🚨 Fellow real estate agents—please be careful!

Yesterday I received what looked like a legitimate land inquiry from someone using the name Dale Hart. His email said:

Good day Nancy,

My wife and I are hoping to connect with a seasoned land consultant who can help us pinpoint the right property for a project we're working toward. We have some big ideas and would be grateful for your guidance on land opportunities that fit what we're after.

Please let me know a time that suits you for a short call to go over what we're looking for.

It sounded like a potential client wanting help finding land—exactly the kind of inquiry we might respond to.

But when he sent a Zoom link, it took me to a download page. Something didn’t feel right, so I stopped. He followed up saying, “It’s an international Zoom call, which is why the latest Zoom update is required.” He then instructed me to download and install a program called “ZoomWorkspace.”

The link looked like Zoom, but the actual domain was vtcyntrax[.]us. I’m using brackets so nobody accidentally clicks it. I did NOT install anything.

I’m sharing this as a warning about a suspected scam. The name on an email may be fake or belong to someone whose account has been compromised.

As agents, we hear from people we don’t know all the time. We want to be helpful and responsive, but we also need to slow down when something feels off.

Trust your gut! If it doesn’t feel right, stop and check it out. Ask for the meeting ID and join through your existing Zoom app instead of installing software from an emailed link.

Dogs have been a part of my life since I was a little girl! 🐾

When Hugh married me, the poor man also inherited my love of dogs. 😂 And our girls? Well… they never really had a choice. They were going to be dog people too!

Over the years, we’ve had quite a crew.

There were our Rat Terriers—Dixie, Delta and Bonnie. Bonnie, better known as “Bonnie Rotten,” lived to be 15 and was absolutely fearless! When we had the store, she would take on the tires of a semi truck like she was ten feet tall. And heaven help us if someone pulled up with another dog—Bonnie was ready to take them on too! 😂

Then there have been our Border Collies—Baylor, our red Border Collie, Lex, Big (Sam’s dog), and Jake. Of course, we can’t forget Reba, our rotten Corgi. 😂

And now there’s George, our very spoiled Great Pyrenees/Golden mix. George may be a big ol’ dog, but when that West Texas temperature gets above 100°, he DEMANDS to come inside so he can stretch out on the floor in the air conditioning and stay cool. 😂 Apparently being a farm dog has its limits!

Some of our dogs have been purebred, but plenty have been rescues or simply showed up at the farm and decided they lived here. And somehow, some of the ones you never planned on end up becoming the ones you can’t imagine life without. ❤️

Every one of them has had their own personality and their own stories, and I really can’t imagine our family or farm without a dog—or usually several—around.
