Last week I joined Smart Growth America to brief the bipartisan Build America Caucus on how and why to redevelop brownfields.

Brownfield redevelopment drives housing, economic growth, and climate resilience. Public-private partnerships and federal incentives make it happen.

Grateful to Smart Growth America and the Build America Caucus for spotlighting this work.

To continue celebrating , let's take a look back at The Legacy in Bay City. The 128-year-old Legacy, formerly known as the Crapo building, opened in 2018 with a new look and new purpose. The doors to this historic building in Downtown Bay City opened after a nearly three year redevelopment project transformed the building into a multi-use structure with restaurant, commercial and residential space.

Remnants of the former bank building remain, giving the structure character and preserving its history. Acosta Real Estate & Development retained original doors and other hardware, such as copper light fixtures, that are some of the smaller details that went into highlighting the building's history.

It’s my 7.5 week workiversary at Renovare.

The increment may seem odd but I ran my own company for an awesome 7.5 years. I’ve always felt lucky to collaborate and work with incredible teams. This takes it up a notch as we work to deliver community driven projects statewide.

Last year, I’d really felt like I’d grown as much as I could on my own and started thinking of what was on the horizon.

There’s such beauty in personal, professional and community growth. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to advance to the next level with colleagues that I admire and can laugh about the chaos with 🧡

There are people that build buildings and then there are people that build community. This is what community building looks like. Nothing particularly fancy. Asking neighbors and residents their thoughts and feedback on a proposed project before it even goes to the city. Answering questions and talking about what people need and how we can be a part of the solution.
