6 years ago today the unthinkable happened.
And boy has it been a long 6 years for our community.
Despite all of the hard times we went through, often with high emotions, sometimes arguments and even some severed relationships- I will forever be proud of the way we came together and helped each other out in our ultimate time of need.
I will forever be proud of our emergency management, our fire departments, our hard-working men and women who aren't afraid to get dirty to make things right for their neighbors. A lot of new friendships were formed too!
And after the clean-up and rebuilding efforts, there was an empty hole sitting in our hearts (and landscape) as we waited for the lake to return as our final puzzle piece.
I can't tell you how amazing it is to pull up to a lake house or drive over the lake on US10 and see her back. To see all of the people posting celebratory photos of their lake front returning. To be planning a Return of the Lake Celebration for the whole town at the Sanford Beach. Ahhh....we finally made it.♥ The beach is back!
