Home sales in Salt Lake County fell 11% in May year over year. It was the 12th consecutive month of falling sales. The median single-family home price climbed to $650,000, up 22%, while multi-family homes increased to $450,000, also up 22% from a year earlier. Mortgage payments today are 65% more than they were just a year ago due to higher home prices and mortgage rates, according to Realtor.com.

Home sales in Salt Lake County fell 16% in February. It was the ninth consecutive month of falling sales year over year. Home prices continued to surge. The median home price in February climbed to $516,384, up 25% compared to a median price of $413,600 in February 2021. However, prices may slow as mortgage interest rates climb. The average rate on the popular 30-year fixed mortgage hit 4.72% on Tuesday, moving 26 basis points higher since just Friday, according to Mortgage News Daily.
