Hinesville is the most affordable way into this market, and whether it fits you comes down to one thing.

If you want a newer home at a price that still makes sense inside Chatham County, Port Wentworth deserves a look.

Convenient to the port, to Pooler, and to downtown Savannah, at prices friendlier than most of what surrounds it.

Two things I would look at closely before you commit: the truck traffic, and what your HOA actually covers. Both are answerable questions. Both are easier to ask now than later.

Richmond Hill is the single most requested area I get asked about, especially by military families.

Bryan County, sitting between Savannah and Fort Stewart. Schools with a strong reputation. Housing that runs from established waterfront to brand new construction.

Pooler is the first place most people ask me about, and I never give the easy answer.

Newer construction, quick access to I-95 and I-16, minutes from Gulfstream and the airport. That part is real.

The part nobody warns you about is the traffic, and the fact that Pooler does not feel like a small town anymore.
