The Laurel Villa (now La Posada & Felix's Cantina) was built as an Inn in 1876, and has been operated as an Inn continuously since then.

In the early part of this century, Milford boasted over 30 resort hotels and Inns. The Laurel Villa is one of the few remaining, and is now the second oldest Inn in Milford, Pennsylvania. It has been owned by one family, longer than any other Inn within the Milford area.

Along the way it has served as a stagecoach stop, as the summer home of the Ensemble Studio Theatre, and as a residence for many visiting soap opera stars performing at the Milford Theatre.

The Laurel Villa was in the Muhlhauser family since 1945. Now, as La Posada, it is a part of the Milford Hospitality Group.

GREGORY'S GARAGE 1949
This garage / car dealership was located at 106-108 W. Harford St., Milford and owned by Amos and Edith Gregory. The story goes, when Amos Gregory passed away, his wife Edith successfully took over managing the garage. When Chrysler found out that a woman was in charge, they sent a letter to the business stating that they did not wish to do business with a company "principally owned by a woman"! Edith complied and made Randolph "Skip" Gregory the president of Gregory's Garage and she took the Secretary / Treasurer position.

ZANE GREY MUSEUM
From 1973 - 1989 Helen and Albert Davis, dear friends of the late Zane Grey ran the Zane Grey Museum to honor his accomplished life. In 1989, The Davis's sold the property to the National Park Service. The museum is still in operation today.
Zane, born in Ohio, grew to love the Lackawaxen area as an escape from his amateur baseball, and dentistry career in NYC. It was in Lackawaxen that he met his supportive wife, Dolly. She encouraged him to pursue his writing career.
Zane Grey became an accomplished western novel writer through the early 1900's which allowed him the ability to travel the world to pursue his childhood love for the outdoors, fishing, especially. He held world records for catching large game fish. He was the first person to catch a 1,040 pound Blue Marlin using a rod and reel in Tahiti!

The Milford Community House has a rich history. It was originally the summer home for the Pinchot family, until Grey Towers was completed.
The Pinchot Family was dedicated to turning their former home into a free public library. The Community house operated as a library for more than 75 years!
The Community House now operates as a visitors center for the Town of Milford. There are also community meeting rooms available.

The Milford Theater, located at 114 E. Catharine Street opened in 1911 as a vaudeville theatre. It soon became a movie theatre, and converted back to a place for live performances several decades later.

Masker Museum - Promised Land State Park
From 1933-1941, Promised Land State Park was home to Civilian Conservation Corps Camp -139 or Camp Pocono. CCC boys lived in barracks and worked to plant trees, build roads, improve soil, build campgrounds and so much more. Many of the boys arrived at the park underweight, with poor clothing. They were offered uniforms and 3 meals a day. The average worker gained 40 pounds while working there!
The Masker Museum first open in the mid-1970's in the old CCC Officer's quarters. In 2000/2001, the Museum renovation began.
