Thank you to WUWM 89.7 FM - Milwaukee's NPR for featuring Acts Housing in their Keys to Homeownership series and showcase.

Our VP of Impact, Dee, said it well at the event: homeownership isn't just a financial milestone — it's a matter of dignity. We believe every person deserves a stable, safe, and affordable place to call home, and that belief drives everything we do.

It was great to be in the room alongside Milwaukee Community Land Trust, VIA Community Development Corporation, Community Development Alliance, and Mayor Cavalier Johnson for this conversation. Milwaukee is making progress, and we're proud to be part of that.

Meet Frank.

Frank shares his journey to homeownership in his own words — including the deeply personal reason he decided to take this step.

He closed on his home on what would have been his late wife's birthday. Among her things, he found a carved sign with the name "Woods" and placed it on his new fence.

Frank said it best himself: "It's been a great day, and Acts is a blessing."

Congratulations, Frank. We are so glad to have been part of your journey.

This home had been part of Acts Housing's inventory for years. At just 550 square feet with one bedroom, it was a tough fit for buyers willing to take on the rehab.

The Acts Homes team saw an opportunity to create something more. After a major renovation and addition, the home was transformed into a 3-bedroom, 940-square-foot space designed for a family to put down roots.

This month, we're celebrating Julian, who purchased the home as a first-time homeowner. Even with the extensive improvements, the final purchase price was just $135,000.
