When you support Simpson, the impact can be seen in the smiles and confidence built in children and youth in our programs.

Last month 18 young people participated in Summer Scholars. Each day, we focused on providing young people with ways to practice literacy, creativity, leadership, and critical thinking in ways that were directly and immediately applicable to their lives. Their capacity for challenge, compassion, generosity, connection, problem-solving, learning, and joy were demonstrated in the artwork they created.

The Children and Youth Services Team also has been busy working with families as school starts, to finalize registration and transportation, troubleshoot challenges, secure school supplies, and get back into a school routine. To celebrate the new school year, we are hosting back-to-school breakfast every day the first week of school. Fun fact: our team has relationships with staff in close to 100 schools across charter schools, private schools, and 10 public school districts.

We had a blast at the MNUFC match last week! ⚽️💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Simpson Community Day at Allianz Field. It was such a fun evening to come together, cheer on the Loons, and celebrate the incredible community that surrounds Simpson.

We’re grateful to Minnesota United FC for partnering with us and creating such a fun way for Simpson supporters to connect with our work. Great soccer, great company, and a great night for Simpson! 🙌

Did you know it’s Supportive Housing Week?

It’s a time to celebrate the power of housing, community, and connection—and to recognize the important role supportive housing plays in helping people build long-term housing stability in Minnesota.

At Simpson Housing Services, we believe everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home. Supportive housing pairs affordable housing with individualized services, relationships, and resources that help people achieve the goals they set for themselves.

Across Simpson, our supportive housing programs serve 600 households across Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka, and Carver counties, providing more than a place to live. During Supportive Housing Week, we celebrate Simpson’s participants and the incredible staff, partners, funders, and the community who make this work possible.

Supportive housing is about more than having a place to live. It’s about having a place to call home.

We’re still looking looking for a few more volunteers to to support young people in Simpson’s Literacy Tutor and Mentor programs this fall. These roles are an opportunity to invest directly in the next generation while helping create stability, hope, and opportunity for families.

A decade ago, a partnership began with one sentence: "If you ever have extra cereal, we can always use it."

That's how Post Consumer Brands' relationship with Simpson Housing Services started. Not with a strategic plan or a big check — with an employee who happened to be in the room, heard a real need, and asked, "How can what we already have help our neighbors thrive?"

Curiosity Meets Courage Training - 2 Options

Bring your questions, your curiosity, or even your uncertainty. This workshop is a space to learn together — no prior expertise required, and no judgment at the door.

We’ll build a shared vocabulary around race and equity, explore the connection between racism and homelessness, and look honestly at how well-intentioned efforts sometimes fall short. Together, we’ll consider what it looks like to move from short-term, transactional responses toward deeper, more lasting change.

Behind those numbers are people like Christian, who finally had a safe place to recover from surgery… Pete, who staff searched for at the public library for weeks before finally finding him… and a man who spent 25 years moving between shelters, and is now baking blueberry muffins for his neighbors.
