Renting is not always more expensive than buying right now. Some of the homes being bought right now at todays prices and current interest rates may come with a higher monthly payment.

Some NOT All

While renting may be less expensive in some areas right now, there are two big benefits homeownership provides that renting can’t.

Owning a home means you get to say goodbye to rising rents and hello to stability. While some homes may be a bit more you'll still see less rising costs than renting. I have seen a rise of about 15% in many areas for rent over the last couple years and we all know it won't ever go down.

It also gives you the chance to gain equity as home values rise over time. For instance I bought my first home in Spring of 2018 in North Minneapolis which is a area that didn't see the price hikes that many other areas did and it's still worth over $60k more than when I bought it!

Many people just got tax returns, what better way to spend that money than to invest in your own future and buy your first home, or maybe buy an investment property.

A lot of people don't really know how downpayments work when buying a house and many people believe you have to have 20% down. This is a common misconception. The most common amount that's required for downpayments for a first time home buyer is 3.5%!!! Now that can still be a good chunk of money, however with all the downpayment assistance out there you could qualify for $16,000 for down payment assistance and another $32k as a first generation home buyer. Essentially you could get into a house for about what it costs to move into an apartment and be investing in yourself at the end of the day.

Big first round for the Minnesota Vikings!

We got JJ McCarthy who has done nothing but win his entire football career. Now I know it takes a team to stack wins, but this is the guy I was really hoping for. I knew that a couple others were out of our reach and of the ones left he was definitely my top pick. Get ready for JJ to JJ for the next handful of years.

Then we got Dallas Turner. This guy is a beast! All he does is attack the QB and can do it from all over the field. Exactly the dynamic player that Flores will unlock and make unstoppable. Como g off of Defensive player of the year he was projected as a top 10 pick.

Excited to see where this team goes the next couple of years.
