Let’s take a pause to celebrate pollinators for World Bee Day! 🐝

Many plants rely on animal pollinators for reproduction by moving pollen from flower to flower. Bees are the most efficient animal pollinators because their bodies are designed to collect and store pollen. Minnesota provides habitat for over 500 species of native bees, which benefit us through both crop and flower pollination. Native prairie provides critical habitat for pollinators, but only about 1% of Minnesota’s native prairie remains today. Minnesota Scientific and Natural Areas preserve these critical habitats to protect bees and other animal pollinators! If you see a beautiful flower or eat a fresh fruit today, take a moment to appreciate bees’ crucial role in helping them grow! 🌱🌼
