Happy National Home Cleaner’s Day!!
We are more than the people who clean the house.
We are the calm that walks in when life has become overwhelming.
We are the fresh sheets after a hard week.
The empty sink after a long day.
The clean floors little feet can play on.
The deep breath someone takes when they finally walk into a home that feels peaceful again.
We give people something they can never make more of:
Time.
We give mothers back an afternoon with their children instead of an afternoon scrubbing bathrooms.
We give exhausted parents permission to sit down.
We give couples one less thing to argue about and one less responsibility to divide.
We give busy professionals a weekend that actually feels like a weekend.
We give people time to rest.
Time to be present.
Time with their families.
And sometimes, simply time for themselves.
And our work goes far beyond cleaning.
Sometimes we're the person an elderly client has been waiting all week to talk to.
Sometimes we're the listening ear for the mom who's having a hard day.
Sometimes we celebrate pregnancies, new homes, marriages and promotions with our clients.
And sometimes we're there quietly cleaning around them during illness, loss, divorce and some of the hardest seasons of their lives.
We watch babies become toddlers.
We watch children grow up.
We are the ones that the dog is waiting for by the door for a belly rub.
And somewhere along the way, we become part of the rhythm of a family's life.
There is so much invisible labor in what a home cleaner does.
Because we're not just cleaning a house.
We're taking something off someone's plate.
We're creating calm where there was chaos.
We're making someone's life a little easier.
We're giving people the freedom to spend their time on the people and things that matter most to them.
And you can't put a price beside the relief someone feels when they open their front door after a long day and realize:
I don't have to do anything. It's already done.
But that is the real impact of what we do.
So today, on National Home Cleaner’s Day, I hope every home cleaner takes a minute to recognize the value of the work you do.
The work may sometimes feel invisible.
But your impact isn't.
