Each month we hold Leadership Sessions to help people gain insight on their self-awareness, how they can lead themselves better, and then how they can lead others well!

We have two sessions coming up this week - Wednesday in Edina and Thursday in Minneapolis. Sessions are open to all brokerages.

Things to consider before you sign up:

1. If you're lacking consistency in business, health, relationship's, etc, you'll want to register.

2. If you're wrestling with something hard in life right now, it will be a good use of time.

3. If you're looking to grow and actually consider changing to make that growth happy, you will certainly want to be there!

Minneapolis - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/965332815437?aff=oddtdtcreator

I'd love to see you there, and with all the humility I know you'll be glad you did.

I write to learn.

When I write, it requires me to think with more depth, question whether what I'm thinking is actually true or driven by my emotions (50/50 accuracy), and question if I'm living in alignment with the things I see to be true and right for me.

1. I've found that I enjoy learning truths, sometimes hard truths.

2.Then packaging them together to help myself grow and develop....

3. AND THEN what has become more pronounced is to share it in a way that is transparent and direct for the benefit of others.

It's my mission, it's alignment for me.

If you read the shorter notes on my social pages, I've created more insights people can sign up for that provides more context and things to ponder. There is a free weekly insight sent out.

If this aligns with your path, I'd welcome you to put your name on the list if you haven't already. If the social posts are enough, perfect!

I'm coming for you!

Success in any venture comes down to leading yourself well, which also indicates a perspective that serves you rather than brings you down!

This isn't something that I'm hoping to just have more bodies in the room, this is something that I sincerely believe you'll benefit from being a part of, SEE WHY BELOW!

Take a look at the different sessions over the next couple of weeks - Open to ALL!

Why should you be there? Great question, here is what you can expect from me:

1. The gift of having problems - If you have them, you're winning!

2. Your belief system around Obstacles and the impact it has on your life and business

3. Value - What value to bring to people is one thing, HOW you bring it matters even more!

I promise I won't let you down, I sincerely believe these conversations will help you as we move into the second half of the year!

If you have your coffee in hand, take a moment to scroll through these. I tend to believe we are more alike than we are different, and believe we can learn deeply from others.

Same person, same results. Same person, same approach to handling life. If you want to grow, don't rely on your memory, it isn't typically that accurate over time. Document, take notes, journal. Knowledge is power, but reflecting on knowledge is wisdom. 2023, you were a blessing, a frustration, and most importantly, a pivotal year.

1. Happiness is a side effect of choices.

2. We can wish something didn’t happen, and also be grateful it did. They aren’t mutually exclusive.

3. If you’re looking for energy, find your authenticity.

4. Indecision is a decision.

5. Your heart is wiser than your head. You just have to have the courage and willingness to listen.

6. People too often chase money over a better life.

7. Did you have a bad day or a bad 5 minutes that you allowed to steal the rest of your day?

8. I’ll listen, support, encourage and cheer you on, but I won’t carry you. That is your job.

9. Squeeze every ounce of gratitude and wisdom from tough times.

10. Taking risks should be scary. We should be afraid. But we should be more afraid of staying where we are, particularly if we’re unhappy and miserable.

11. Money, titles, production levels, win loss records are all signs of success…external success. Gratitude, fulfillment, appreciation, joy are all signs of success…internal success. Don’t sacrifice the internal for the external. The first type of success is misery without the second time in tow.

12. Too have better days, you have to fear less.

13. People will often make decisions once the scale of pain outweighs the pain of actually changing.

14. Take notice of the feelings you attach to ‘what if’ moments.

15. Worrying about change doesn’t keep things from changing.

16. A half commitment to a goal or outcome is more about convenience and comfort than it is about commitment. It leads to little or no results, causes you to start something different, and then the pattern continues.

17. The biggest challenge you’ll ever face is the voice inside your head.

More to come!

Too often we chase happiness.

The more you chase it, the more it will elude you.

Happiness is a side effect of the choices we make. We don't just get to choose to be happy, otherwise that is what everyone would choose. Yet happiness is a by-product of all the choices we make. Choices to take care of ourselves. Choices to help others. Choices to hold standards for yourself. Choices to be the best version of yourself....or not. It's up to you.

I used to roll my eyes at statements like this, and now realize how naive that reaction was. If you're not taking care of yourself, if you're making poor choices, if you listen to the not so helpful voices in your head, those are all choices that will fog your perception of what the world looks like.

Pay attention to what you're looking for, because whatever it is, you can find it.

Numbers are great, people are greater.

When running businesses, numbers are critical, yet we can't forget that the people are the numbers and the numbers are the people. Without the people, numbers literally mean nothing to me!

Last week we pulled all 4 of our organizations together at Keller Williams and shared some of the things that they accomplished as a collective community. The numbers are staggering, not because of just the size but also because of the impact it represents.

*Just between our 4 offices, we represented roughly 11.7% of all the transactions that were done in the 16 county metro area. To give perspective, there are hundreds and hundreds of offices.
*We have 750 agents, which accounts for just 4.3% of the total realtors in the Twin Cities.......and yet account for almost 12% of transactions!! That means our agents are experienced and productive!
*Since inception of our franchises, we've given back over $11,200,000 in PROFIT SHARE.

To the agents on this journey with us, all 750 of you, the appreciation that we have for each of you is significant. Our community of people is a special group!! You hold a special place with me as we are on this journey together!

We are on our way to 1,500 agents. I'm not interested in 1,500 agents for the number, but for what the numbers represent. It's to positively impact as many lives as we possibly can, both personally and professionally. And allow the impact it's had on you to then go impact others in the community!

We are in a big industry, regardless of broker affiliation, if you're interested in collaborating and discussing how we lead ourselves and those we lead (including clients) more effectively, I'd love to connect...DM me.

If you don't read some of what I post because it's too long, I'll ask you to read this one...not for me, but for you. Especially if you're an entrepreneur!

Perspective matters. We've been in a strong economy now for over 10 years, which that time frame is uncommon and also unsustainable. I believe that prosperity is wonderful, I also believe it can cause our perception to get twisted. It can cause entitlement, we can lose sight of gratitude for the smallest things. It can cause an inaccurate perspective. And gratitude is such an underestimated value in living with joy! Interestingly enough, I'm old enough now to have lived through two economic extremes in real estate. Many in the real estate industry have never been through a downturn. For those that have...it's good to see you on this side😂. I'm sure we all have stories from those times😜

Difficult times can be the seedlings of gratitude with an accurate perspective.

And entrepreneurs, this is a proactive plea to build a sustainable business based on good habits and building real relationships. Make decisions that will allow you to have a great career, not just a great year. Short-term decisions can cause long-term failures. Poor or no habits in a great market can cause a false reality of what drives results. Focus on the habits that will allow you to thrive and be of great service to others regardless of economic climate.

Anybody can deliver accountability with a top down approach. Yet it takes a leader that cares and also has the soft skills of empathy, listening, compassion, and the ability to deliver candor effectively to help people bring the best out of themselves.

01/07/2022

1. A focused strategy beats ambiguity every day of the week.
2. A focused mindset is required for strategy to matter. Strategy isn't the driver, ex*****on and implementation is.
3. An accurate self awareness is required to create a strategy that is sustainable. Without understanding yourself, your thoughts, your strengths, any strategy implementation will be short lived.

Make understanding yourself and having an accurate self-awareness a priority. Otherwise, the strategy will suffocate. Taking someone else's strategy is a weakness if it doesn't align with your natural strengths. To continuously operate in your weaknesses is the most efficient track to burnout.

Build a foundation that can sustain what you're looking to build. Have a mindset that includes gratitude, kindness and candor, and truth and reality.

And I've learned this over and over, you can be the 'best in the business' or new to the industry, and you're vulnerable to become something you're not. Results driven to prove something to the outside world makes humans do things that don't align with their character.

Build and grow yourself based on who you are, not who others expect you to be.

Last week was a first for many of us. And in a way, I know we all stepped up and were energized by the challenges that we are all facing, both personally and professionally. It likely sparked a purpose driven mindset that motivated us to show up and be strong for other people. That speaks volumes to who we are as human beings.

Here is what I know, we and others around us may run into some of that renewed energy falling off. And if we aren't taking care of ourselves emotionally, nutritionally, spiritually, sleep wise, etc, we won't be able to truly bring our best moving forward. I think it's important for us to acknowledge that we are going to have thoughts of fear, of the unknown, of negativity, and know that this is normal. What isn't normal and what people don't do is to just lean away from those thoughts and emotions and allow them to pass. What I know in our group is that we are thoughtful, caring and servant people. I care that each of you are taking care of yourselves both physically and mentally. Here are a couple of thoughts:

Have a plan in place to take care of yourself - give yourself some structure. Have a schedule. Too many choices will actually cause us to make poor decisions.
Get outside! Right now it may feel we can't go anywhere, yet we can go outside...just walk around with your arms straight out to keep your distance:)
Take note of the things to be grateful for....even in times of uncertainty, we truly have so much to be grateful for.
Focus on today - to speculate where this will end up right now is impossible, and to a certain point irresponsible.

FOCUS ON THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU CAN DO EACH DAY!

Lets take this a day at a time and at the same time, plan and take care of ourselves as we are in this for awhile. I'm optimistic based on some things I've heard and people that are in the field that there is progress being made regardless of what the media focuses on. And when we prepare, we are able to weather almost anything with the right mindset.

I appreciate each of you. Lets go have a great week and choose the right thoughts!
