ndergrad at the University of St Thomas where I met my wife, Alison. After graduation, we moved to Beaver Creek, Colorado where we spent the next several years working in resort property management. Looking to further my career in real estate, I enrolled at the University of Denver where I graduated with two Masters - an MS in Real Estate and MBA in Marketing. Soon after graduation, I landed a dream job with a group of seasoned real estate developers. It was a wild ride as our small team grew to be one of the largest commercial developers in the U.S. That is...until the market meltdown in 2008. Laid off and discouraged, I switched gears and turned my sights to entrepreneurism. I found just the thing: a 40-yr-old business that needed saving. I'll never forget walking into the conference room my first day. I cleared my throat and gave my new-boss-speech. I like to pretend we were characters in the TV sitcom The Office.

“Would I rather be feared or loved? Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me" - Michael Scott from the Office. In reality, running a small business was like going into battle every day. I woke up every day ready to fight. Two years later, my company made the Inc 5000 Fastest Growing Companies in the US. It was anything but easy. Through this experience, I learned the value of perseverance, leadership and humility . These skills would eventually define my style as a Realtor. Eight years later, I sold the business and moved my now family of three, back to Minnesota. There was never any doubt in my mind. My son Henrik would grow up in Minnesota catching turtles, and riding jet skis just like I did as a kid. My little family spent our first months back in Minnesota in a cabin in the snowy Northwoods. In between stoking the fire to stay warm, I worked on getting my MN real estate license. I’d take my life experience and put it to work for my clients. In my first year as a licensed Realtor in Minnesota, I achieved “Rookie of the Year”. And by year three: “Top Sales”. And I made his first hire - my wife Alison with her eye for detail hopped on board. I don’t think of my role as a sales job. It’s a leadership role. Leading people through one of their life’s biggest events is a tremendous job. When I’m not negotiating deals or coaching clients, I’m spending time with family where I live in Deephaven, Minnesota. Occasionally, you’ll find me doing cannonballs off the dock into Lake Minnetonka with my 6-yr-old son, cheering on the sidelines as I watch my wife Alison coach my son’s soccer team, or daydreaming about my next adventure travel destination.

You’re not arguing about money.

You’re arguing about what it’s worth.

Things I didn’t fully appreciate until adulthood (and then becoming a Realtor)

Capital
Not just money. Resources you can deploy.
Cash, time, skills, credibility, relationships.

Value
Value isn’t what something is.
It’s what someone will trade for it.
That’s why two people can look at the same house and see totally different realities.

Social capital
Your network isn’t networking.
It’s trust.
People who answer the phone.
People who show up.
People who vouch for you.
It compounds quietly until the day you really need it.

Political capital
Not TV politics.
Influence and goodwill.
The ability to ask for a favor, move something forward, rally people
Because you’ve built credibility over time.

And the part I didn’t learn until later

You spend capital every day whether you mean to or not.
So what are you investing in.

Real estate is basically a real time lab for all of this 😅

List smarter with buyer psychology. 🧠

Some want turnkey—clean, cared for, day-one easy. Think new construction, or quality updates, or even older finishes that are well-maintained.

Some want space that works now—beds, storage, yard/garage—maybe with room to update over time. functional.

Some want a place to improve—fixer-upper, investment, path to equity. House has some issues.

Pick a lane.

Promise it. Prove it.

Prep + price to match.

Either way:

👉🏾👉🏾👉🏾 Anticipate the “yeah, but…,” set the story, steer the decision.

Be transparent, and mitigate objections upfront. Steer perceptions.

Market it with photos, facts, and feeling. That’s good marketing. ✅

The best marketing I do?

From the outside, you’ll probably never see it.

You don’t see me posting
“Just Listed” or “Just Sold”

…with three tagged REALTORS and a row of 👏👏👏

That stuff doesn’t help you.
It’s not marketing. It’s self-serving. It’s ego. It’s of no value to clients.

Sure, I’m proud of myself and I’m proud of you when I get a house listed or sold. It’s a big deal. And always reason for celebration 🥳

But it’s got nothing to do with savvy Marketing.

What actually works?

Well…for example…

✔️ 🎯 Targeted social ads to real buyers
✔️🧠 Messaging that stands out
✔️ ⏱️ Timing and strategy that create results
✔️ 🛠️Proven home prep advice to max buyer interest (+ money in your pocket)

🚫☁️No fluff.
🚫 #️⃣No hashtags.
🚫🫣No look-at-me energy.
————

Just real strategy that moves the needle for my clients.

Most of it happens behind the scenes.

But it works!

🚫👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽No clapping necessay

When you’re ready, don’t be shy.

🙄Alison thinks she's sooo funny!

Here I am, earnestly sharing what makes our business so special.

Next thing I know. Before I can even articulate my idea, she's 🙃sidetracking the conversation and cracking me up (once again)! 😂

Maybe what sets our business apart isn't just me—it's the humor and a bit of humility that comes with Alison keeping me on my toes.

Our love language is humor. It keeps us humble and connected—is that our secret ingredient?

Perhaps it's not just me—it's us! 💃🕺

The 90s: A Decade of Dirty Jobs and Lessons Learned
I am (was) a 90s kid through and through - both college and high school all spanned over that joyous decade. Coming of age in the 90s. ✌🏼 😁
It seems I always managed to have a job. Lots of different ones in fact!
The 90s were a string of tough jobs that taught me more than a few lessons. It all started one summer when I took on three jobs at once—shoveling horse manure, raking seaweed, and earning my “sandwich artist” pin at Subway. But that was just the beginning.
From washing dishes at the Ground Round to flipping pizzas, spending a summer filing papers in a bank basement, working at a computer help desk, running coolers of biologically sensitive materials as a courier, and doing odd jobs at a manufacturing plant—I had my hands full.
Each job was another step in figuring out what I didn’t want to do for the rest of my life.
And then there was the burger-flipping gig in college. Just another job, really, but it’s where I first exchanged glances with Alison—before we even knew each other.
Looking back, none of these jobs were glamorous, but they all taught me something, even if it was just what I didn’t want to do. What about you? What were your toughest jobs, and what did they teach you? 😅👷‍♂️

⏰🕰️the past is the new present. Middle Age is WEIRD AF: Rediscovering Stuff Through My Little Homie.

-
-

Becoming a dad changed everything—my priorities, my daily routine, and even my hobbies.
When Henrik was just a baby, it felt like I was giving up so much. Fast forward to today, and I realize it’s actually the opposite. Thanks to him, I’ve rediscovered a world of adventures I’d long forgotten.
-
-

Mountain biking was something I hadn’t thought about for decades.
-
-
After a bad crash years ago (phenomenal face plant into a bunch of rocks. 🤘🏼)
-
-
I never thought I’d ride the trails again. But here I am, not just back on a mountain bike, but also embracing every bit of Minnesota’s beautiful outdoors with my son, who’s nearing double digits.
-
-
We’re biking on trails that didn’t even exist when I first started, and it’s amazing how much the equipment has evolved since my old ‘1997 (ish) Stumpjumper’ days.
-
-

But it’s not just biking. We’re sailing, jumping off docks, swimming in lakes, tackling waterslides, and setting up camp under the stars.
-
-
We’re even conquering the digital landscapes of Mario and Zelda. Sidenote Who remembers that first Zelda with a golden cartridge? 😝 Link has come a LONG way over the years and so HAVE YOU! (And me)
-
-
Each of these moments is a super dooper rediscovery of my youth, made even better by my son’s excitement. 🎉🥳
-
-
As parents, we often worry about the sacrifices.
-
-
Yet, here we are—my son is introducing me to new worlds, and I’m teaching him about the old ones. It’s a beautiful cycle of learning and enjoyment that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
-
-
Here’s to more trails, more games, and many more adventures. Here’s to the magic of having a mini-me, a constant reminder that life is an incredible journey, especially when shared. 🌲🎮💦
