The MADACS Awards (Multi Housing Achievement in Design, Advertising, and Community Support) are the highest honor in Minnesota’s multi-housing industry. Each year, hundreds of entries are carefully reviewed and judged by industry leaders, with the winners announced at a spectacular gala event every September.

Sustainability initiatives often create benefits that extend beyond environmental performance. At The Bosk in Woodbury, Minnesota, 2025 capital improvements focused on enhancing resident comfort while supporting operational efficiency.

Upgrades included the installation of 736 ENERGY STAR® appliances, including stoves, microwaves, washers, and dryers. The community also introduced low-VOC paints and flooring to support healthier indoor environments, while replacing mulch with rock throughout the property to help reduce fire risk through the use of a more durable, non-combustible material.

These improvements demonstrate how thoughtful capital planning can support residents, strengthen long-term asset performance, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

What makes a great amenity space?

At Park Place Apartments in Plymouth, MN, the answer has been watching residents make the space their own. Since the new amenity park opened earlier this year, it has become a gathering place for everything from competitive ping pong matches and outdoor crafting sessions to after-work cookouts and weekend evenings around the fire pit.

Community Director John Erskine has seen residents embrace the versatility of the space, using it as both an active hub for connection and a quieter outdoor retreat. Whether they're spending time with neighbors, enjoying the grills, or simply relaxing in the sun, residents have found a variety of ways to make the space part of their everyday routine.

Last week, Team Members across our communities joined residents, first responders, and neighbors to celebrate National Night Out, an annual event focused on strengthening relationships and creating more connected communities.

These events are a great reminder that community extends beyond our apartment homes. They create opportunities for residents to connect with one another, engage with local first responders, and build relationships that make neighborhoods stronger.

As Emily Cox, Multi-Site Community Director in Billings, Montana, shared:
"National Night Out is a great way to get our community involved with first responders and our residents involved within our community. Jessica Rogers and I love being part of the committee each year, and every year it just gets better, from planning to executing the event!"

We’ve published our 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, marking our seventh annual ESG report and our first year reporting progress against performance targets aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The report highlights key accomplishments, including the completion of a portfolio-wide greenhouse gas inventory, expansion of smart home technology across additional communities, and continued advancement of operational decarbonization efforts through boiler and controls improvements.

"As we look ahead, we remain focused on disciplined ex*****on, thoughtful capital allocation, and continuous improvement,” Centerspace President and CEO Anne Olson stated in the report. “ESG is embedded in how we operate, invest, develop talent, and manage risk. Community is at the heart of what we do, and we're proud of the impact our team continues to make beyond the workplace.

Recently, Centerspace volunteers came together to assemble 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies, helping students and families prepare for the upcoming school year. Through service, teamwork, and a shared commitment to giving back, we helped support a stronger start for children in our communities.

Thank you to Simon Says Give for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful initiative, and thank you to every team member who volunteered their time and energy to make a difference.
