Our Story

Believe it or not, Destin Palms is the brainchild of a 17-year-old student. In 2013, Paul Couch was a Realtor for a Real Estate brokerage in Destin, Florida. He had been working in real estate here at the beach for three years, and had an extensive background in years of Real Estate investment properties, property management, and sales. Paul’s background in Real Estate as an investor consisted of owning and managing multiple Residential and Commercial properties in New York over the course of nearly 25 years with his Wife Tina. He originally started in construction and the couple has built and remodeled both residential and commercial properties over the years. The couple's business experience also included owning and operating a car dealership and car rental franchise locations. Paul quickly realized that in addition to having further business interests, he also had many frustrations within the industry. Outside contractors did not meet Paul’s standards, and vacation companies to whom Paul referred clients often fell short of expectations and led to unhappy Owners and Guests. He knew that his clients deserved better. Paul was so frustrated that he had even considered purchasing a vacation rental company in order to ensure that clients were better served. One day while crunching numbers on an existing company that was for sale, his then 17-year-old Son A.J. looked at Paul and said, “Dad, wouldn’t it just make more sense to open a new business that would cover all of this – real estate, vacation management, and construction?” Smart kid. Destin Palms was born. Destin Palms opened in the summer of 2013 managing 4 vacation properties and The Couch family soon bought a 5000 square foot office space on the ground floor of the sought after vacation condo complex, Majestic Sun. In the first two and a half years of operation, Destin Palms Vacations has grown their management from 4 properties to over 100 properties today! Several of these property owners were past clients.
