🏆 From “dying city” to #1 in the NATION—what a story to tell! 🏡✨
In 2011, Newsweek once listed South Bend among America’s top “dying cities,” pointing to population decline and economic challenges at the time. Fast forward to today, and the South Bend–Mishawaka Region is now ranked #1 in the country in the Spring 2026 Housing Market Ranking by The Wall Street Journal and Realtor.com—for the second quarter in a row!
That kind of turnaround doesn’t happen by accident.
This recognition reflects strong housing demand, economic momentum, and the incredible collaboration happening across our communities. People today are choosing where to live based on quality of place, opportunity, and connection...and they are choosing to call our region home.
