During spring and fall the last couple years, we've had issues with gutter drains and downspouts plugging. Leaves and helicopters are the culprits. One heavy thunderstorm/downpour can result in an instant problem, causing water in the basement window wells. I've looked at many gutter protectors, some have a large amount of plastic and some create a kind of "shelf". I decided on thick aluminum screens that hopefully won't impede watershed and minimize ice dams.
